How we help
BHHF’s primary objective of humanitarian aid is to save lives, alleviate suffering, as well as to give the most vulnerable group (refugee children) hope for the future.
The help has intensified since 2015 because of the refugees and IDPs in Iraqi Kurdistan. Thank you in advance for any generous help you are kind enough to provide! Your willingness to support will help us to help more people have a safe, warm, and dry home.
Medical Aid
There are a number of ways in which Bring Hope helps alleviate suffering of refugees and internally displaced people around the world and so far one of our greatest efforts has been through regular medical aid.
It costs approximately $500 to bring donated baby milk formula for 1 000 babies, or medicines for
2000 patients. This is life-saving support, enabling us to bring hope to individuals who have lost
everything in their lives.
Medical drugs & equipment
Since 2015, 1.5 million refugees have been helped with 150 loads distributed across 50 refugee camps. 25 of these loads of medical drugs and medical equipment were donated and distributed, mostly in collaboration with our international and local partners, to the camps across Kurdistan within the Duhok, Sinjar, Erbil, Sulaymaniya, Kirkuk and Halabja provinces.
Our main medical partners, IHP (International Health Partners), http://www.ihpuk.org/, HRIF (http://www.hrif.nl/), Johnson & Johnson and HPIC, donate over 80% of all received donated medicines, which is a necessity since many of the refugees living in the camps have been affected by war, disease and infections.
We receive a wide range of medical drugs, everything from painkillers, to surgical supplies and household supplies such as gauze, plasters, and surgical rubber gloves to allergy medication and medical aid to fight off migraines and nausea, as well as psychological and cancer pharmaceutical drugs.
Through four loads of donated medical equipment and the distribution of medicines and equipment in 2016, hundreds of lives have literally been saved. We do not underestimate the value of being able to provide an immediate impact. All of our medical equipment has been and continues to be donated by western medical companies; the UK, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Italy, Portugal, and Canada.
Mobile Hospitals
Aside from donations and medicine distribution along with other humanitarian aid, Bring Hope is also interested in joining forces with international organizations, which is essential for helping the most vulnerable groups.
In March 2016, several mobile hospitals were purchased by UNFPA, these hospitals were delivered by BringHope from Holland to UNFPA staff on the ground around Mosul.
In December 2016, 5 more mobile hospitals were purchased by UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund), and BringHope facilitated the delivery into Iraqi Kurdistan and into the refugee camps.
Doctors on the ground
Bring Hope is partnered with FAI Mission, Free Burma Rangers, DAMA, ADRA, Heevie, and One World Medical Mission, as well as many clinics and hospitals.
We are providing them with the most needed medications, free of charge, and medical equipment.
Together we have bring hope to Hassan Sham U2, Mam-Rash camp, Sinjar Mountain, Shariya, Bartala, and many other clinics and hospitals in Sulaimaniyah, Mosul, Kirkuk, Erbil, and Duhok.
Many lives have been saved due to BringHope’s donated medicines.
Doctors on the ground
Whilst it is our aim to ensure the necessities are given in the form of food, clean water and clothes, it is of great concern that we provide human recovery in the form of physical and mental rehabilitation and medical care.
We are currently working on creating mental health rehabilitation initiatives, and are committed to “teaming up” with healthcare practitioners to ensure those in the refugee camps receive the care and treatment needed.
