Media & Communication Officer (Intern / Volunteer)

Bring Hope Humanitarian Foundation is seeking a Media and Communication Officer (Intern/Volunteer) to support the organization in communication and social media management.

Context:

Bring Hope Humanitarian Foundation (BHHF) is an international non-profit organization established in 2015 to help respond to challenges confronting people experiencing displacement, poverty, crises, and other vulnerable situations. Bring Hope was created to respond to the increased need for aid for millions of displaced people who fled into Iraqi Kurdistan from the ISIS incursion and resulting destruction.

With headquarters in Sweden and offices in Dubai and Iraqi-Kurdistan, we reach out to and work with people and partners in vulnerable areas and emergency situations worldwide. We strive for long-term impact by addressing the pressing needs of people experiencing displacement and other vulnerable conditions through our humanitarian response, social cohesion, and economic development programs in specific project areas. These outcomes are reached through three thematic approaches: Resilience, Response, and Recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Social and Digital Media Platforms: Administrate, manage, and monitor     all social and digital media platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn,     Instagram, and the organization's website.
  • Storyline Development: Support national and regional offices in identifying and developing compelling storylines for social media channels to engage the     audience effectively.
  • Communication Strategy Implementation: Implement the organization's communication strategy for the period 2024-2027 and communication plans     for the year 2025, ensuring alignment with overall objectives.
  • Content Planning and Monitoring: Develop strategic and tactical content plans for all social     media platforms and website. Monitor the effectiveness and performance of content to optimize engagement and reach.
  • Digital Content Creation: Create engaging digital content including copy, imagery, and  video for social media posts, reports, Annual Report, and campaigns.
  • Agency Collaboration: Contact and engage with various communication agencies to     explore pro bono collaboration opportunities. Facilitate digital meetings  and negotiations with potential agencies.
  • Website Restructuring: Lead the restructuring of the organization's website, serving     as both the specifier and client to ensure a user-friendly and informative platform.
  • Paid Campaign Execution: Execute paid campaigns on Meta platforms to promote organizational initiatives and increase visibility.

Requirements:

Job qualifications and skills set.

·      Below are the qualifications that are expected of a Media and Communication Officer:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Media and Communication and/or relevant courses.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Content-creating, editorial and storytelling skills.
  • Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography, print, and web
  • Proficiency in programs such as  Canva, Adobe Suite, Photoshop, InDesign, Webflow, and Illustrator or any other relevant programs

Desired qualification.

  • Prior professional experience in Media and Communication
  • Knowledge on strategic communication
  • Graphic and video editing skills.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Previous working experience in the humanitarian sector would be a plus
  • Basic language skills in Swedish

·  Expense reimbursement: Successful candidates will be reimbursed for monthly expenses incurred for local transportation, meals, and wellness activities during their internship or volunteer tenure. Reimbursement will be provided in accordance with organizational policy and upon submission of valid invoices.

Location: Scaniaplatsen 25, 211 17, Malmö, Sweden (Head office)

Duration: The desired start date is March 2025, though an earlier start is also possible. This is a 6-month voluntary/internship contract, available on a part-time or full-time basis, with the potential for extension.
