Over the course of several months, BHHF and PAO partnered in the large-scale distribution of both essential and non-essential non-food items across the southern districts of Babel, Thiqar and Basrah, in Federal Iraq.Together, people living in these areas were supported with receiving items they were denied access to in their current situation, including health, dental and hygiene items, clothes and educational materials and recreational items such as games and toys.

Additionally, several people with physical disabilities that hindered their physical mobility received wheelchairs to aide in their freedom of movement. Items included wheelchairs, toys, clothes, and educational materials.

One of these people is Ibrahim, a young boy who lives in Al-Hamdaniya camp in Nineveh Governorate, and dreams of becoming an English teacher. From an early age, Ibrahim has had a remarkableand powerful spirit, despite the challenges he faced by experiencing displacement and living with spinal cord atrophy. Bring Hope reached out to Ibrahim, knowing that the organisation could support his ambition and contribute to him living a life with the dignity and integrity that he deserves. Bring Hope empowered Ibrahim with a wheelchair catered to his specific needs, providing him with greater independence and mobility.

Bring Hope also met with an elderly woman, who has lived a life without the ability to move freely, with limited independence, depending on others for her movement. Supporting her with her own wheelchair was life-changing, a small act that meant the world to her. With tears in her eyes, she shared, “I can move alone now; I don’t need anyone.” These stories remind us that sometimes, the smallest gestures can have the biggest impact. The chairs we provided were not just physical support; they were vehicles of hope, independence, and dignity.

With immeasurable joy, and tears of gratitude, Ibrahim exclaimed, “I will become an English teacher!”
